Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if this treatment program is right for me?

Before patients begin our program, we provide a thorough medical and psychological assessment (the “intake appointment.”). We use this assessment to determine if this program meets your treatment needs. Following this assessment, we will schedule a feedback meeting to provide you with treatment recommendations.

How do I make an appointment?

If you have questions about the program, please call 919-416-2464.

If you wish to schedule an intake appointment, please call 919-416-2464.

What happens after I set up an appointment?

You will be mailed an assessment packet after you set up your intake appointment. We ask you to complete these materials prior to the assessment. We use this information along with a personal interview and results from your medical examination to determine appropriate treatment recommendations. These recommendations may or may not advise you to participate in our program. However, as a result of the assessment, we will provide you with both these treatment recommendations as well as alternative treatment options.

How often and for how long do treatment sessions last?

In our clinic, we emphasize the use of empirically validated treatments for eating disorders. Thus, the frequency and number of appointments is based on the recommendations of the treatment model chosen and adapted based on the needs of the individual client. For most disorders, sessions are held more frequently at the beginning of treatment (twice weekly for the first few weeks) and then continue on a weekly basis as treatment progresses and symptoms improve. We assess your progress every four weeks to determine if changes in treatment are necessary. Each session is 50 minutes.

When do the sessions take place?

Initial assessment appointments occur on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1pm – 5 pm. Follow-up treatment sessions are scheduled throughout the week.

How much will this cost?

Our fees vary depending on the treatment needs of the individual client. When you call to request an information packet, we will send you a fee schedule so you can get an estimate of our cost. You may also call 919-416-2464 for information about fees and insurance reimbursement.
